We are holding a public consultation to discuss the Tweed Valley stakeholder project but most importantly to gather your ideas and feedback on how Innerleithen should develop.

To be held on 26th June 7.30pm at Innerleithen Union Club, with light food provided by a local Cafe.

Innerleithen has some of the best Enduro and Downhill mountain bike trails in the country. It has a heritage of mountain biking spanning decades now but it is important to build a sustainable plan for the future. The current trails are a mixture of authorised steep downhill tracks, 'Off-Piste' Enduro trails and aggressive cross country riding. We are interested to collate thoughts on existing trails and proposed new trails.

Innerleithen currently lacks facilities for visiting mountain bikers. There's no trail side bike wash, toilets, showers etc. When we compare the visitor experience at other sites it lags behind most centres. With a strong local rider and business community behind it we believe that this is the time to shape the future of the trails and facilities required. DMBinS along with local stakeholders hope to collate this feedback and present a destination masterplan with an ambitious vision of Innerleithen as a leading Scottish MTB location. The master planning process will be based on successful models used in other European destinations.

To ensure Innerleithen can move forward as a destination it needs to take a professional holistic approach to planning it's future. We need to look at the trails but also the full visitor journey. Ed Shoote, Tweed Valley MTB Coordinator says,"We believe Innerleithen is a perfect location for leading the region if not the country as the iconic advanced level rider destination. To achieve this we need to work together to create a formal, professional proposal to partners and funders. It won't happen overnight but we need everyone to work together and support a unified vision.".

Come along, join in the discussions and have your say. Free event, but please register here.
